Doctors, who relied on MRs for updates on new medicines, treatment advancements, and product information, suddenly had limited access to critical insights. This created an urgent need for a secure digital platform that could enable seamless information exchange while maintaining social distancing norms.
To address this challenge, DIGI5 envisioned a scalable digital platform that would virtually connect doctors and pharmaceutical MRs, ensuring uninterrupted access to new drug information and communication channels. The goal was to build a secure, market-ready solution aligned with user needs and industry expectations. Solution

Unthinkable then undertook the development of two fully integrated applications, a web application for DIGI5 and a mobile application for doctors and Medical Representatives (MRs), available on both Android and iOS. The web platform was built using ReactJS, NodeJS, and MongoDB, while the mobile application was developed using React Native. Following an Agile methodology, the team ensured iterative development, faster releases, and continuous optimization, delivering a secure, scalable, and high-performance ecosystem.

Web-Based Admin & Ecosystem Management Platform
A powerful web application was developed to enable DIGI5 to manage its entire ecosystem efficiently. Built using ReactJS (frontend), NodeJS (backend), and MongoDB (database), the platform allowed DIGI5 to maintain a centralized database of registered doctors, pharmaceutical companies, and MRs. A comprehensive admin panel enabled intelligent mapping, assigning MRs to pharmaceutical companies and subsequently to doctors based on preferences. MongoDB ensured high-volume, document-oriented data storage, while NodeJS supported scalability and faster data retrieval. ReactJS delivered a seamless and interactive user interface.
Cross-Platform Mobile Application
A unified mobile application was developed using React Native, enabling doctors and MRs to connect seamlessly across Android and iOS devices. The app ensured consistent performance, intuitive navigation, and real-time interaction capabilities. Designed for accessibility and ease of use, it empowered users to collaborate efficiently while maintaining flexibility and convenience.
Real-Time Chat & Messaging
To enable instant communication, a robust text messaging feature was built using PubNub. This allowed multiple concurrent connections with high-speed message delivery and real-time synchronization. Doctors and MRs could engage in secure, uninterrupted conversations, ensuring timely information exchange and improved engagement.
On-Demand Video Conferencing
An on-demand video conferencing feature was integrated using OpenTalk technology. This enabled doctors to virtually connect with MRs to discuss new medicines, treatment updates, and product information. The feature ensured high-quality, stable video interactions, replicating in-person engagement in a secure digital environment.
Secure Data & Content Sharing
The platform leveraged Amazon Web Services (AWS) for computing power, database storage, and content delivery. This infrastructure enabled secure sharing of multimedia content, including videos, PDF documents, and images. The cloud-based architecture ensured scalability, high availability, and reliable performance while safeguarding sensitive information.
Appointment Booking & Automated Reminders
An integrated appointment scheduling module allowed doctors to book meeting slots with MRs efficiently. The system included automated reminders to confirm upcoming meetings, minimizing missed interactions. This feature streamlined scheduling, reduced waiting time for MRs, and enhanced overall operational efficiency within the platform.
The Impact
DIGI5, in partnership with Unthinkable, successfully launched the scalable and resilient DIGI-MR mobile application. By leveraging innovative methodologies and the Discover & Frame Workshop, the team reduced the go-to-market time by 38%, accelerating product deployment and enabling faster market penetration.
The platform eliminated long waiting hours for Medical Representatives and digitized promotional materials into PDFs, reducing paper dependency. Following the launch, over 2,000 doctors and nearly 1,000 pharmaceutical companies registered on the platform, with adoption continuing to grow steadily.
