Business Situation & Requirements
Back in 2012, Dailymotion operated on an elementary portal built on an outdated technology stack. As global video consumption surged and multi-device access expanded, the platform struggled to scale. It faced frequent outages, a sluggish backend, and a non-intuitive frontend, while lacking the flexibility to support new features or handle growing concurrent user traffic.
To support this next phase, Dailymotion partnered with Unthinkable Solutions to modernize its platform. The objective was to build a Drupal-based CMS with a scalable architecture, improved UI/UX, and a role-based backend system to streamline content management and enable continuous feature enhancements.
The key requirements were:
Develop a modern web portal using advanced technology for both users and content creators.
Enable seamless HD video streaming across devices, including mobile, tablets, and connected TVs.
Deliver an intuitive OTT platform with a consistent, high-quality user experience across all devices.
Build a robust, scalable architecture to support growth without compromising video quality.
Develop a role-based CMS with defined permissions for admin, manager, and user roles.
Allow managers to review, tag, and publish user-submitted videos efficiently.
